Periodic Table of Banned Books
STCC Reads Banned Books
Partnering with the STCC Library staff, I led the vision and launch of this permanent exhibit + website exploring book censorship, intellectual freedom, and representation. The project features an interactive Periodic Table of Banned Books, a “Book of the Week,” curated resources for students and faculty, events & podcasts — all designed to educate, provoke reflection, and stand up for unrestricted access to ideas. -

The Culture Section
The Culture Section
I created this specially curated interactive resource guide to provide quick, accessible information on key DEI topics, national holidays, and cultural heritage months. The Culture Section is designed to spark awareness, deepen understanding, and connect audiences with meaningful resources that celebrate diversity and belonging.

Explore a curated collection of my past work, where imagination meets strategy. Each project reflects my intention to deliver thoughtful, creative and engaging events and programs.
Comic Fest
The first ever Comic Fest at STCC. There were guest speakers, trivia, cosplay, workshops and prizes. It was a collaboration between the Office of Multicultural Affairs, the STCC Library, and STCC Anime Club.
Movies That Matter
A film series that was created to showcase films that had powerful messages and themes. Some were cultural, some were controversial and all of them were powerful. I felt that sometimes watching a film can be more impactful than just listening to someone talk about it.

Heart of a Man: A Virtual Engaging Men’s Series
This series was dream of mine that I created after the murder of George Floyd. I wanted to get men of color in a room to discuss what was happening in the aftermath and the result of this was “Heart of a Man”. It was a space for men of color to dialogue about important topics, address issues related to their trauma, build relationships and create community among men.
Heart of a Man Podcast
Once the pandemic was over, and everyone returned to work, the “Heart of a Man Series” decided that we should create a vehicle for folks to continue listening to these important conversations. This was the result.
ScholarSip
I had an idea to due a wine tasting event in order to raise money for a student scholarship but instead of doing it traditionally, I created an experience. Not only did the event have wine and cheese, but it had beer, mead, live music, wine tasting 101 class and we raised more than $10K for the scholarship.
The Periodic Table of Banned Books
I am so proud of this project which was in collaboration with the STCC Library. This project came about from attending the SXSW.EDU Conference and from working at a technical college. I wanted something that would highlight the book banning trend in a way that was unique and engaging for students. So, we created an interactive period table of banned books and an an website. It is still up at the STCC Library!
Diversity Speaker & Performance Series
This is one my longest running series and one of my most cherished as well. It began in 2005 with my mother, Myra Smith as the curator and then I took over in 2015. This series brought a global array of speakers, performers and artists to the campus of Springfield Technical Community College (STCC). It was open to the public, free of charge, and it was a legendary hallmark in the Greater Springfield Community.
